About Emily

The writer behind the stories of resilience, courage, and love against the odds

Hi, I'm Emily

I write Victorian romance—the kind that steps off London's cobbles and into your heart. My stories are about women from lower-class society who will never give up on their hopes and dreams. Women who are resilient, have courage, and will stop at nothing to obtain the man of their dreams... even if it means breaking other hearts.

I am endlessly curious about how love survives against the odds, whether it be class divides, hard times, or the secrets people keep to protect the ones they love. Every story is threaded with hope, and I aim to give readers the feeling of being truly seen, with endings that leave the heart a little braver.

What Inspires Me

I love thinking back to the past—how people survived, and the heartwarming tales you hear of honourable heroes falling in love with resilient women. The Victorian era fascinates me because it was a time of such contradiction: rigid social structures alongside quiet acts of rebellion, poverty alongside opulence, and love that bloomed in the most unexpected places.

My characters are inspired by the real women of history—the ones who rose before dawn, worked with numb fingers, and carried on with nothing but their own stubborn hope to keep them upright. I wanted to write stories that honour their strength and celebrate their capacity to love fiercely.

My Writing Journey

I first started writing during 2020. I had broken my wrist and bizarrely, I took it as a sign I should write more and follow my heart. What began as a way to pass the time during recovery became a passion that has transformed my life. Writing gave me permission to explore the stories that had been living in my imagination for years.

Since then, I've published four interconnected Victorian romance novels, and I'm currently working on the full-length novel that continues Alice and James's story from The Gingerbread Seller. Each book is a love letter to the resilience of women and the power of hope.

Life Beyond Writing

When I'm not writing, you can find me reading a good thriller, listening to music, or walking in the hills with my husband and my Jack Russell, Millie. I also love curling up by our log burner, taking a breath, and being grateful for life. These quiet moments often inspire the emotional depth in my stories.

I'd Love to Hear From You

I genuinely want to connect with readers. Tell me about your favourite stories, what's going on in your life, or simply share your thoughts on my books. Your words matter to me.
